TWILIGHT DAWNS A NEW DAY FOR 3 MUSICIANS

The Twilight Soundtrack has spent 12 straight weeks in the top 10 (settling currently at #5) and is about to break the record for the longest run in the top 10 since 8 Mile. For some artists included in the soundtrack, this might be old news, but for Sam Bradley, Bobby Long, and Marcus Foster, this could be a career jump starter, and we were lucky enough to talk to all three of them this week about their involvement in the Twilight soundtrack, their music, and their upcoming endeavors.

If you haven’t heard of them, these three Brits are friends and musical collaborators with Rob Pattinson, who performed their songs “Never Think” (co-written by Pattinson and Bradley) and “Let Me Sign” (written by Foster and Long) on the soundtrack.

“It’s put me on the map that’s for sure,” Long said. “I used to play 5 gigs a week for like 2 people because I always thought it was important to get an education in music and play for like nobody and learn how to play. Now all of a sudden. . .”. Now all of a sudden he has gone from around 50 plays a day on Myspace to around 700, and has girls screaming at his gigs in London - one girl even ran up to kiss him before being asked to leave. Unphased by his new audience, Long described the change: “Well, it’s nice. It’s really nice playing to people but it can be a bit uncomfortable. . . it’s not at the stage like Rob has it, though.”

At this point, it’s a good thing they’ve all witnessed Robert’s rocket to fame and how wild fans can be. “They’re insane,” Long laughed, describing Twilight fans, “but they’re funny and I think they’re aware they’re like that, so they have a sense of humor. But they’re all nice people”. Marcus recognizes how many of his new fans are Twiligthers as well; something hard to hide when they have profile pictures of Rob. “It’s crazy. I get lots of messages every day, it’s quite funny.”

Joking about the vivacity of the Twilight fans, and claiming he would never have too many fans, Sam stated, “if I was to be chased down by fans, that would be a good thing. It would be fun - I reckon I can run faster than them”. The three musicians even have a livejournal community dedicated to them - “land of dreamers”.

REUTERS: TWILIGHT STAR STEWART RIDES THE ROLLER COASTER OF FAME

Reuters - “Twilight” star Stewart rides roller coaster of fame

Vampire romance “Twilight” hurtled Kristen Stewart to the kind of fame that can turn a life into a roller coaster ride, so it seems appropriate that her new movie revolves around an amusement park.
“Adventureland,” which premiered this week at the Sundance Film Festival, is one of a string of quirky movies Stewart, 18, has starred-in since her first film at age 11.

But none of those movies ever brought the actress the sort of attention she has received the last two months since “Twilight” struck gold at box offices with more than $324 million worldwide since its November debut.

In the movie, Stewart portrayed Bella Swan, a love-struck teen adored by millions of young girls after they began devouring the series of books on which the movie is based.

Stewart is a child of Hollywood — the daughter of a stage manager and a script supervisor — and her Los Angeles upbringing provided a close up view of fame that has helped her handle the three-ring media circus of Hollywood celebrity.

“I grew up on a set,” she told Reuters at Sundance. “I don’t take it as seriously, and then at the same time I take it more seriously than anyone. It’s like a balance.”

“Adventureland” is a coming-of-age movie about a recent college graduate named James, played by “The Squid and the Whale” star Jesse Eisenberg, who takes a summer job at an amusement park.

She may be young, but Stewart already is something of a veteran and appears to handle the media glare well and she wants to stay active in Hollywood.

Already she has 16 movies on her filmography including “Panic Room,” “The Cake Eaters,” “Into the Wild” and “What Just Happened.” Her first role was 2001’s “The Safety of Objects,” about suburban families whose lives intertwine.

With upcoming roles as rocker Joan Jett in a biopic and again playing Bella in “New Moon,” the next installment in the “Twilight” franchise, Stewart said she has no immediate plans to attend college.

“Not now, maybe if I can grow up a little bit,” she said. “But not yet, I can’t. It’s just I’ve had a lot of demands put on me for quite a long time.”

E! ONLINE: NEW MOON CASTING SCOOP - DAKOTA FANNING AS JANE?

Dakota Fanning…with fangs?

It’s possible. I can exclusively report that the 14-year-old child star—she turns 15 on Feb. 23—is in talks to play Jane opposite Robert Pattinson & Co. in New Moon, the upcoming sequel to box office megahit Twilight.

“There were no auditions,” a source reveals. “They just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth.”

Jane is a member of Italy’s Volturi, the most deadly group of bloodsucking killers in author Stephenie Meyer’s’ best-selling series.

In the casting notice we got our hands on earlier this month, Jane is described as a petite blonde with a “Botticelli angel-like face…[and] crimson irises.”

While fellow Volturi guards Demetri & Felix “are three times the size of her, they are terrified of her,” the casting notice reads.

Coincidentally (or maybe not), an online petition started by a Twilight fan already asks the studio, Summit Entertainment, to cast Fanning because she would be “perfect” for the role.

Early last month, Entertainment Weekly suggested Pushing Daisies star and Broadway diva Kristin Chenoweth. “Her voice is certainly high enough, and at 4′11′’, she’s also short enough,” writer Amy Wilkinson proposed.

Director Chris Weitz is expected to start shooting New Moon in March in the U.S. and Italy. If all goes as planned, the movie will hit theaters on Nov. 20.

5 fun facts about Rob Pattinson

Move over Zac Efron! British import Robert Pattinson has arrived, and the reaction is Beatles-like. With his signature tousled mop and brooding stare, Hollywood’s newest heartthrob has tongues wagging, mobs stalking, and tweens begging.

Pattinson first made his mark on American audiences as hunky Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. But his casting as Edward Cullen, the beautiful vampire at the center of the best-selling Twilight Saga, has turned the man dubbed R.Pattz into the apple of every teen girl’s eye.

Twilight’s record-breaking opening has paved the way for more sequels. But before he makes his immortal return, Pattinson will display his acting chops as Salvador DalĂ in the indie drama Little Ashes.

1. Robert Pattinson was often taken advantage of by his older siblings. “Up until I was 12 my sisters used to dress me up as a girl and introduce me as ‘Claudia’!” the actor told the BBC.

2. Robert Pattinson became known to his fans as ‘Spunk Ransom’ after admitting he disliked his name. “I hate any reference to my name,” he told MTV. “I wish people would just completely invent a new one.” ‘Spunk Ransom’ was Pattinson’s suggested alternative.

3. Robert Pattinson, who plays piano and guitar, has two songs featured in Twilight. “I cried the first time I heard the two songs,” director Catherine Hardwicke told MTV. “They’re deep; they’re very soulful.”

4. While filming Twilight, Robert Pattinson injured himself on his very first shot. “I wasn’t even doing a stunt. I was just trying to pick up Kristen [Stewart] and I almost tore my hamstring because I hadn’t been doing enough squats,” the actor told the Los Angeles Times. “It was very embarrassing.”

5. While on the Twilight set, an enthusiastic fan asked a crew member to bring her baby on set and have Robert Pattinson take a photo with the child. “So there’s a photo of me like biting a baby’s head,” he said.

‘TWILIGHT’ - THE FILIPINO VERSION

‘TWILIGHT’ - THE FILIPINO VERSION

December 26th, 2008

Actors Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao are set to portray Edward Cullen and Isabella Swan in the Filipino version of ‘Twilight’, which will air on a local Filipino TV channel. Production begins as early as February, and they will be filming in the Philippines and abroad. The movie will be called Takipsilim, which literally translates to Sunset in English.

Below is the press release for the movie:

Rayver Cruz will star as Edward Cullen and Shaina Magdayao as Isabella Swan in the local television version “Twilight.” The hit vampire novel has been bought by ABS-CBN has bought for more than US$1 million with Ignite Media as co producer. The taping is set to start next year by Feb. in Baguio, Tagaytay, Bukidnon with some parts to be shot abroad. To be directed by Cathy Garcia Molina, the TV adaptation will focus on Edward and Bella’s love story to be treated as drama, romance and fantasy. The unofficial cast includes Valeen Montenegro as Alice Cullen, Gabby Concepcion as Dr. Carlisle Cullen, Luis Manzano as Emmett Cullen, Al Tantay as Charlie Swan, Yayo Aguila as Renee Dwyer, Fred Payawan as Jacob Black, Carlos Agassi as James, Chin Chin Gutierrez as Esme Cullen, Karylle as Rosalie Hale, Joross Gamboa as Jasper Hale, Jessy Mendiola as Jessica Stanley, Empress Schuck as Angela Weber, Brad Murdoch as Laurent, Nikki Bacolod as Victoria and Aaron Villaflor as Mike Newton. Rayver and Shaina were former love team partner but the tandem did not work. It seems their tandem will click in “Twilight.”

But, while this may not seem like such a big deal - many Twilighters are angry about this remake of ‘Twilight’ saying that it will ‘ruin the original Twilight’, so they have begun a petition against the movie, which you can see by following this link...http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/say-no-to-twilight-filipino-version

so, twilighters....what do you think of this Filipino Version...are you pissed, since you think it will really ruin the original version???...or it would be just fine and consider watching it instead???....

http://twilightersanonymous.com/

I Speak:
"well, for me...it wouldn't be a nice idea at all...i don't underestimate the capacity of our very own movie makers but there are things that they really need to consider...say, this is true and they're really pursuing this project...

i'm into doubt that they could match every element which can be found in the original Twilight. Primarily, i'm talking about the effects. I'm afraid, it would only be a subject of ridicule for the most and people will only compare them...nothing more but compare them...

secondly, i don't think the actors are good enough to portray each character..i find many of them not fitting in the characters which they will have to do...like Rayver Cruz, for Edward Cullen. But Shaina, i think would be just fine to play Bella Swan...Rayver Cruz lacks so much, and likewise, the rest of the cast...

but, who knows...it might turn out to be an amazing film, so much better than the original..LOL!...we'll see...personally, i'm not really against it...this is a free country, anyway...but, i really think, they should reconsider a lot of things especially the cast...and the effects, of course....

i'm giving it a chance..."

(yudi...matagalog nah gale c bella kag si edward....tsk!tsk!tsk!....kung may ilonggo version pah gid nuh, kag kapangpangan version...basi may tagalog version man ang decode, i check koh beh....tsk, tsk, tsk...)
